Wednesday Affair with my Pretty ladies over @ Som Tam.

Som Tam officially opened at September 2015 with their first outlet situated at Orchard Central. They offers exclusive view in the restaurant while serving up fusion thai food! Talk about enjoying life -smirks- Be it for lunch or for dinner, heading over is hassle-free!

Here's what we saw upon arrival! PS: the waiting area was so nice for photo taking, check it out at the end of the post!

Got seated down in our comfy seats and started flipping through the menu. Just reading the menu made me so hungry because everything seems so good! Especially when they fused Italian food with Thai food, which both happens to be 2 of my fav!

#1, Thai Iced Tea // $4.20
#2, Thai Matcha Yen Float // $6.80
#3, Iced Thai Matcha Yen // $5.80

"Drinks will always be served first"
Ordered my all time personal favorite in every Thai restaurant, Thai Iced Tea. And it was definitely up to my standard. Managed to also take a sip of Thai Matcha Yen, its refreshing matcha taste caught me by surprised! Even though I feel that the thai taste could be stronger, but well, looks like I've got a 2nd favorite drink now!

#4, Tom Yum Truffle Fries // $6.80
#5,  Oozy Salted Egg Chicken // $10.80

Tom yum truffle fries is a must for fries lover like me(and tom yum love)! Was so excited when I saw the menu, but was a little upsetting when I saw it. It look pretty much just like normal fries and I find that there's a lack of tom yum taste, but it was still pretty addictive I couldn't say no to it! Fries isn't very crispy but that's how I love it!

Oozy chicken was up next. Mixing deep fried chicken with salted egg! (Not sure if I love everything or that they're really having my favorite food in their menu) The chicken chunk was tender and juicy, and the taste of the salted egg complemented each other, however it would be better if they incorporated the salted egg taste into the chicken as well instead of just outside the batter. But still, one of the dishes not to be missed!

#6,  Gai Satay // $9.80

Flamed grilled chicken served with green Nahm Jim. As expected their chicken was so tender and with every dip of the Nahm Jim, just mindblowing. The Nahm Jim was a little spicy with a tinge of sourness, perfect for someone who can't really take spicy food well!

#7, Phad Kang Kaneng Phet // $18.80

Hands down for the best dish that night! Stir fried slipper lobster (a.k.a. Crayfish) served with Thai red curry and runny eggs! The crayfish is so fresh, and the meat was so juicy. Not forgetting the combination of the red curry. Not kidding you but the curry was so good everyone kept tasting it and even tried to ask for rice to go along with it. Its that good!!! A pity they only have it together with crayfish, was hoping that they can come out with the other seafood or meat. -praying for good news-

#8, Kapi Beef Burger // $14.80
#9, Krapow Chicken Burger // $12.80

Flamed grilled basil marinated chicken, topped with egg, cheddar cheese & dressed with Krapow infused sauce. This normal looking chicken burger exploded in my mouth! Thick juicy meat, soft egg, partially melted cheese, crispy purple lettuce and not forgetting their krapow sauce. Its like feeling everything together at once, the sweet taste with a tinge of spiciness. Already salivating as I type this. Didn't try their Kapi burger because I ca't eat beef, but my ladies said it was good and that the beef was soft and tender.

#10, Pasta X Chicken X Green Curry = ?? // $14.80
#11, 'Som Tam' Style Carbonara Pasta // $13.80
#12, Aglio Olio Style Tom Yum Prawn Pasta // $14.80

"You'll never go wrong with pasta."
And this round, these pastas are way to interesting to resist! The Green Curry Pasta is one of their signature fusion pasta and one of the most interesting one. I never knew how green curry and pasta could taste so good together. The sweet savoury green curry and tender chicken gets addictive the more you taste it!

The Aglio Olio was a little disappointing as it came out looking like normal olio and pretty much tasted normal :( Was pretty excited to taste this due to (yes, and again) being in love with tom yum and pasta. Hopefully there will be more tom yum the next time I'm back.

Among the 3 pasta I tried, I absolutely love their Som Tam Carbonara! They infused chinese wine sausages with salted egg and pasta. Sounds pretty weird to be mixing these ingredients together but it was so good! Each mouthful of the pasta is evenly spread between the sweet sausage, salted egg and creaminess. The pasta wasn't too creamy so you won't get too sick of it even if you were to finished up the whole pasta on your own! I'll definitely be back for this, I promise!

#13, Thai Tea Cheesecake // $8.80

The cheesecake is layered with palm sugar sponge topped with toasted coconut flakes.
Its orangey colour definitely reflects Thai tea, however its Thai tea taste wasn't as strong as expected and it doesn't taste like cheesecake. More like just faint Thai tea moussecake :( But still a very good fusion for desserts!

#14, After You Toast w/ Watermelon Sorbet// $8.80
#15, After You Toast w/ Thai Basil Choc Chip Gelato // $8.80

If you have been stalking me, you'll know I've been craving for the legendary After You taste after I'm back from BKK earlier this year. (You can check it out here). I love how the buttery toast smelled and tasted, and a slightly melt in your mouth. However it'd be better if its harder on the outside and softer in the inside.

The gelato flavors they had was pretty interesting too! We ordered watermelon sorbet and Thai basil with choc chip! Expecting the sorbet to be a little sour but it wasn't, however the watermelon was very refreshing and I'm still wondering how it turned out in such a peachy color!
As for the Thai Basil Choc chip, it actually tasted like green curry. Funny but true! Felt a little weird tasting green curry as a gelato flavor but it was pretty good I would say! Now that I think of it, how would their actual Green Curry gelato taste like?

One does not simply miss the chance of phototaking with nice background, especially when you're all girls!

In my opinion, the prices and food was worth it. Along with the ambience and the interesting fusion of the food! Will definitely be back again! Thank you Smitten and Som Tam for the invite for the food tasting! And a small mini gathering with my girls!

Alright, that's it for Som Tam! So what's your view on fusion thai food?
